Percussionists perform at the Luxembourg Philharmonic

Four top Slovenian percussionists, members of the Dendrocopos and Drumartica, will perform at the Chamber music Hall at the Luxembourg Philharmonic on December 2nd.

The concert will be held in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Luxembourg International Percussion Competition.

Jože Bogolin, Simon Klavžar, Jan Čibej and Luka Poljanec return to Luxembourg this year as invited laureates of the International Percussion Competition (IPCL). They will perform at the venue where the Dendrocopos duo won the First Prize of the International Competition last year, and their mentors from Drumartica received this award years ago. The concert, organized by the European Soloists Orchestra, will feature works by various international composers, including the Etude No. 3 (Three Etudes for 2 marimbas) by Slovene contemporary composer Peter Šavli. You can listen to his piece for two marimbas HERE.

Upon their return to Slovenia, the Dendrocopos duo will receive the Prešeren Award of the Academy of Music in Ljubljana UL. Both percussionists will receive the award in honour of their performing full-length evening concerts in the 2018/19 academic year.
