Sebastjan Vrhovnik graduated with distinction in music pedagogy from the Ljubljana Academy of Music; he received his master’s degree, also with distinction, from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Since 2014, he has been associate professor of choral conducting at the Ljubljana Academy of Music while simultaneously leading various workshops in choral conducting at home and abroad and participating in expert panels at Slovenian and international choral showcases and competitions. He is currently the conductor of the Ljubljana Academy of Music Chamber Choir, the Ljubljana Music Society Mixed Choir, and a permanent guest conductor of the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir. In concerts, his work with choirs demonstrates excellent understanding of the voice and a distinct musicality; his interpretations are subtle and distinguished by a particularly unified choral sound, while his chosen repertoire brings a breath of fresh air and new professional challenges to the Slovenian music scene.
