Tracing its origins back to 1991, the venue is one of Slovenia’s oldest clubs. Max Club hosts concerts by Slovenian and international rock and pop bands, and caters to lovers of jazz music by organising jazz concerts and festivals. Location: Velenje

MC Pekarna

Venue

The MC Pekarna forms a constituent part of Maribor’s Pekarna Squat. The club opened its doors soon after occupying the former military complex – in 1994. Today one of Maribor’s busiest clubs, the venue is noted for its impressive alternative club and concert programme. The club does not prioritize a specific subculture but seeks to draw attention to the cultures that do not enjoy the support from commercial promoters. Location: Maribor.

Menza pri koritu

Venue

Menza pri Koritu (A Canteen at the Trough), which forms part of the Metelkova mesto Alternative Cultural Centre complex, is one of Ljubljana’s most active clubs. It runs a youth centre and offers its facilities for use by young and emerging artists working in different art forms and mediums. In the evenings, the club hosts DJ sets and concerts. Its repertoire often features world-renowned alternative music artists. Location: Ljubljana

Metlika Castle

Continuing to be firmly embedded in the town’s cultural life, Metlika Castle has hosted a wide variety of cultural events over the recent years. The Castle’s courtyard plays host to a series of events organised under the title “Come to the Castle Tonight”, including theatre performances, poetry readings and other cultural events, as well as music concerts presented by Imago Sloveniae that feature top-class Slovenian and foreign performers. MIKK Club

Venue

The music scene of the MIKK Youth Cultural Centre primarily aims to promote unestablished national bands. In presenting concerts by national and foreign alternative bands, as well as other music groups and music artists, the club seeks to encourage growth and development of young music talents. In addition to offering entertainment, which is not the club’s main priority, MIKK primarily provides young people with an insight into underrated global music trends and practices and offers exposure to nationally underrepresented genres.
