Female chamber choir ČarniCe

Female chamber choir ČarniCe is one of the most prominent Slovene choirs. The members come from all over the country and share the passion for music and choral singing of the finest quality. In the past the choir collaborated with several well-known conductors. Monika Fele has been the choir leader since 2014. The choir recorded four albums and took part in some of the most eminent choral competitions. At the national competition Naša pesem 2016 it won in the category of female and male choirs and received several special awards as well. In the same year it won the first place in two categories at the International Choral Competition Polifonico in Arezzo (Italy) and the second place in the Grand Prix of the competition. In April 2017 the choir was one of the finalists in the Grand Prix of the 14th International Choral Competition Gallus in Maribor (Slovenia) where it was named the best group of equal voices. In November 2017 it participated in the Tolosa International Choral Contest and won two third places and a special award for the best interpretation of a Basque work. During the past season, ČarniCe had worked on a project dubbed Circum Tempus, a specially comissioned 80-minute vocal-instrumental piece by Anej Černe. They have also recorded and published a CD of the artwork and performed several concerts around Slovenia to promote and present set work.

Female choir Carmen manet

Carmen manet is a female chamber choir founded in 2011 and is made up of the best singers of past generations of the Gimnazija Kranj Girls Choir. The name, which means “the song remains” in Latin, signifies the singers staying together even after their high school years. The members of Carmen manet like to speak of their profound friendship and their special musical projects, such as The Song of the Northern Winds (Pesem severnega vetra), Voice Dance (Ples glasov), On the Steps of Carmen manet (Da koder Carmen manet hodi) and I See You (Vidim te), which have been focusing on different heritage of music ranging from Scandinavian tales to Pop music, classical pieces and folk songs, and accompanied by stage choreography and costumography. Carmen manet has been conducted by Primož Kerštanj since the beginning. Despite its young age, the choir has already achieved excellent results at several international competitions in Italy, Croatia, China, Switzerland and Latvia. Their international reputation has been shaped especially due to their Grand prix win on the 50th Montreaux International Choral Competition in April 2014 and their achievement of becoming Eurovision Choir of the Year 2017 on the first competition for the European Choir of the Year in Riga 2017.

Fraw Blanka

As a contemporary dancer, choreographer and music performer, Kaja Janjić began her professional career in 2006. Her work ranges from dance to theatre, cabaret, children’s performances and music. In 2015, she began her music venture under the pseudonym Fraw Blanka when she became a member of the hip-hop/dub trio Šlagwerk. Later, she joined the local independent label Munje Records, and in 2022 she released her debut solo album “Stranski učinki”, which was produced by MC/producer Sajkoslav. Blanka’s raw and energetic performance is backed up by Sajkoslav on the-ones-and-twos.

freekind. is a story written by pianist and vocalist Sara Ester Gredelj and drummer Nina Korošak Serčič. The very name is evocative of the duo’s life philosophy, which they are sharing with the world through their music. Freedom, compassion, and profound lyrics are propelled by groove music, a genre stemming from the roots of soul, R&B, and jazz.

Fujita Pinnacle

Fujita Pinnacle made a name for himself on Slovenia’s underground scene by hosting the Štrom event series with the local creative collective Nimaš Izbire. After a few releases on some of the well-known local labels (SNIF, Trite Sound and more), he took on Europe’s alternative broadcasts, playing shows at Radio Operator, Cashmere Radio and Hör Berlin. His production and live performances pay tribute to the old-school rave legacy, while also incorporating unpredictable bits of internet age freshness, always creating explosive dancefloor ordeals to look out for. His DJ sets are full of wide-ranging material from every possible era of old-school dance music, which he smoothly blends with percussively intense variants of contemporary music production.

Gabi98

Artist

Gabi98 is the coordinator of the collective Nimaš Izbire. He co-organises the event series *Krom and Štrom at Metelkova, K4 and elsewhere, produces a clothing line and works with digital art. As a DJ and producer, he operates with a wide array of underground internet-based electronic music, covering anything from ambient soundscapes to hardcore rave bombs. His prefered area is somewhere between the trance nostalgia of the noughties, the chaotic present and the apocalyptic future. His mixes are full of unexpected turns, unusual combinations and inspiring selections.

Gal Faganel

Artist

Gal Faganel is an acclaimed cello performer, teacher, coach, and recording artist. He has been praised in the press for his “exceptionally sensitive interpretation” (Slovenec – Slovenia), his “powerful and beautiful tone” (Dornse Krant – Netherlands), and his “brilliant virtuosity and youthful vigor” (Primorske Novice – Slovenia). As a performer, Faganel is frequently heard in recital, in chamber music concerts, and as a soloist with orchestra throughout North America and Europe. Until 2010 he served as the acting principal cellist of the Phoenix Symphony. He is a winner of a number of international competitions including the International Cello Competition “Antonio Janigro” in Croatia, he won the American String Teacher’s Association Competition in California. Since 2006 Faganel has been researching, cataloging, performing, and recording music for cello by Slovenian composers. He has also done live broadcasts and archival recordings for National Radio Slovenia, Holland Radio, Classical KUSC in Los Angeles, and KBAQ in Phoenix. He received a doctorate degree from the University of Southern California. His mentors include Eleonore Schoenfeld, Nathaniel Rosen, Daniel Rothmuller, Peter Marsh, and Dobrila Berković-Magdalenić.

Gal Furlan

Artist

Drummer and percussionist Gal Furlan’s areas of activity are jazz, rock and other pop-music genres. He has honed his djembe playing skills at an African drumming workshop.

Gašper Bertoncelj

Artist

Percussionist Gašper Bertoncelj studied at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz in the class of Doug Hammond. After graduation, he moved to New York, where he enrolled in the Masters of Arts programme at the City College. In 2010, he moved to Tel Aviv, where he currently performs and collaborates with international musicians. He performs with many different bands and artists, such as Kevin Mahogany, Mar Django quartet, Zoran Predin, Tone Janša Quintet, Samo Šalamon trio, among others. He is the author of a textbook, Brush book: Playing with brushes, which is popular with beginners as well as professional musicians who are looking to improve their technique of playing with brushes.
