Sankofa Choir

The choir Sankofa has been active since 2009. The choir unites singers of African descent with their Slovenian and international counterparts in the celebration of the African choral tradition. ‘Sankofa’” is a metaphorical symbol used by the Akan people of Ghana; it expresses the importance of reaching back to the knowledge gained in the past and connecting it with the present. The choir’s musical output thus features both traditional and modern musical languages

Sašo Avsenik Ensemble

When Sašo Avsenik and his Ensemble embarked on their musical career in 2009 a new chapter was opened in the music of the Avsenik Brothers. After a hiatus of almost twenty years brothers Slavko and Vilko Avsenik again joined forces to write new compositions and arrange several old ones for the Sašo Avsenik Ensemble. Annually, the ensemble gives up to 170 performances at home and abroad. Challenging the traditional belief that the home of folk-pop is primarily the Alpine Region, the ensemble popularised the genre by appearing in Croatia, The Netherlands and Belgium, and ventured across the Atlantic Ocean to Canada. The ensemble’s résumé includes cruise ship gigs.

Sašo Vrabič

Artist

Sašo Vrabič is a Slovenian painter, musician, and photographer. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts and Design. Between 2001 and 2017 he actively participated in the Perpettum Jazzile choir and other vocal ensembles such as Bassless and Xplozion, mostly as a beatboxer (vocal percussionist).

Sebastian Bertoncelj

Artist

Sebastian Bertoncelj, a promising cellist of the younger generation, has studied at music academies in Ljubljana, Stuttgart, Lucerne and Salzburg. He is also the recipient of the International Academy in Liechtenstein scholarship and has received a number of awards and recognitions. Currently, he performs with chamber ensembles, as soloist with orchestras and is also dedicated to teaching. He regularly performs with renowned international musicians and is a regular guest at festivals across Europe and the USA, as well as the initiator of innovative programming concepts in Slovenia.

Sebastjan Vrhovnik

Artist

Sebastjan Vrhovnik graduated with distinction in music pedagogy from the Ljubljana Academy of Music; he received his master’s degree, also with distinction, from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Since 2014, he has been associate professor of choral conducting at the Ljubljana Academy of Music while simultaneously leading various workshops in choral conducting at home and abroad and participating in expert panels at Slovenian and international choral showcases and competitions. He is currently the conductor of the Ljubljana Academy of Music Chamber Choir, the Ljubljana Music Society Mixed Choir, and a permanent guest conductor of the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir. In concerts, his work with choirs demonstrates excellent understanding of the voice and a distinct musicality; his interpretations are subtle and distinguished by a particularly unified choral sound, while his chosen repertoire brings a breath of fresh air and new professional challenges to the Slovenian music scene.

Senidah

Senida Hajdarpašić, known by her stage name Senidah, is a Slovenian singer, rapper and songwriter. She initially rose to fame as a member of Muff. In March of 2018 she released her hit solo single Slađana acquiring popularity and recognition in Serbia. Same years she was signed to Belgrade based hip-hop label Bassivity Digital and was also featured on 4 strane sveta by Coby, a soundtrack single of the popular movie Južni vetar. Senidah is known for her deep voice and unique appearance. She won Hip-hop Song of the Year award for 'Slađana' at 2019 Music Awards Ceremony.
