The festival Pivo in Cvetje Laško (Beer and Flowers Laško) was established in 1963 and takes place annually in the visitor friendly destination of Laško. There have been around a thousand music groups and solo musicians that performed for many millions of visitors at the festival through the years. Every third week in July, Laško becomes the epicenter of the country and attracts many loyal international music lovers to its stages of popular music.

The Floating Castle Festival is an international festival of ethnic music, theatre, puppets and other genres of visual arts, which takes place near and about the Snežnik Castle in the Loška dolina valley. At the end of July, the Snežnik Castle receives around 300 artists from all over the world who se up special installations and transform the natural environment into unique venues. A major attraction of the festival is also the 80-member international Etno Histeria World Orchestra.

The three-week Festival Poleti v NUK (Summer in NUK) is held in July at the atrium of the national and University Library in Ljubljana. Evenings are primarily dedicated to singer-songwriters and music genres such as chanson, jazz, ethnic and world music, as well as theatre performances.

Festival Zmaj 'ma mlade

The annual Zmaj 'ma mlade (The Dragon Has Youngsters) summer cultural festival takes place each August in Postojna. The event is organised by the Postojna Youth Centre’s Association of Societies and sponsored by the Municipality of Postojna and the local Student Club. A collage of events, the festival’s variegated programme importantly complements the city of Postojna’s summer cultural life.

In 2011, Slovenia joined the international initiative Fête de la musique, also known as Music Day: an annual music celebration that takes place on 21 June in more than 400 cities and 120 countries across the world. The music festival, organised in Slovenia under the aegis of SIGIC – Slovenian Music Information Centre, promotes the importance of live music performances and making all genres of music accessible to the public.

Halamoye Dance Festival

A three-day electronic dance music festival, the Halamoye Dance Festival is held in the idyllic setting of Tolmin’s Sotočje, a venue at the confluence of two rivers. Launched in 2016, the festival’s name derives from the local dialect and originally means lush vegetation, thus vividly describing the festival venue.
