The trio Svojat is a proper rock’n’roll band that grew out of Slovenia’s exceptional free-improvisation scene. The trio is a classic rock line-up, however, the band is its own blend of experiment, difficult to nail down in terms of genre, which combines elements of avant-pop, post-punk, and improvisation.

The broad guiding principle underpinning the music of Širom, whose members hail from the Slovenian regions of Prekmurje, Tolminsko and Kras, is the intertwining of diverse musical approaches and tools, histories of sound and unbridled musical imagination and craftsmanship. The trio’s form of expression is original, stylistically homogeneous, incorporating a wide array of both folk sounds and contemporary acoustic rock-style meditations. Širom’s music is contemplative but becomes sharper when the need (or desire) arises, veering more towards a band-like rather than an intimate, chamber-music sound, more street-like than urban in nature.

The instrumental ensemble ŠKM band, established in 2000 in Beltinci, creates its music at the intersection of rock, noise rock and jazz rock.

The Slovenian pop rock group Tabu was established in 1998. In 2011 their hit song Poljubljena (Kissed) was the most played song on Slovenian radio and it currently still holds this record.

The interdisciplinary artist Tadej Droljc creates electronic music and computer-generated audio-visual compositions as well as other intermedia art. He completed his doctorate in audio-visual composition at the Centre for Research in New Music, University of Huddersfield. During this time, he also taught computer composition at the University. In recent years, he received many international awards and accolades, among them the Edigma Semibreve Award, the Lumen Prize Student Award, the Madatac Award for the most promising video artist, and was shortlisted for the Lumen Prize. He is also the recipient of the Denis Smalley scholarship in electroacoustic music. He presented his work at festivals around the world, among them the prominent Ars Electronica, L.E.V. Festival, Marché du Film (Cannes Film Festival), Semibreve, Node, Sonica Glasgow, Brighton Digital Festival, Madatac, Inter BEE Tokyo and others.

A native of Slovenian Prlekija region, singer-songwriter Vesenjak writes and sings in his local dialect. He has repeatedly won awards at the KantFest International singer-songwriter festival and contest.

Driven by a deep desire for creating, composer Tadeja Vulc studied composition at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under Assoc. Prof. Uroš Rojko and furthered her studies in composition at the University of Music in Vienna with composer Michael Jarrell. Since 1995, Tadeja Vulc has been devoting her time to choral conducting. She has conducted many different choirs and ensembles in various projects throughout the country and abroad, and received numerous awards in recognition of choral performance and repertoire selection.

Mezzosoprano and harpist Tanja Vogrin’s main focus of interest is the exploration of early vocal techniques and historically informed performance. Noted for accompanying herself on the harp, Tanja Vogrin is a founding member of the Concerto di Margherita, an ensemble whose focus lies in reviving self-accompaniment. She gives regular concerts throughout Europe as a soloist or with different ensembles and inspires young musicians at home and abroad as a knowledgeable teacher.

The group Teo Collori and Momento Cigano plays a mix of Romani and swing music. It is a project that weaves together new and fresh stories with nostalgia. The musicians offer authored music in a style that brings to life a time of salon music, cigars, Charleston and lacquer shoes.

Terranigma is the alias of DJ / producer Črt Trkman, also known as Freeverse, who has been active on the local scene for the past 10 years. Terranigma is a throwback to his youth and a nod to the influences, which set him on his musical path. This is manifested through intricately arranged jungle breaks floating somewhere between UK aesthetics and the classic electro sounds of the early noughties. He has released music on the compilation “Gibanica Vol. 2” and EP “Booster Pack”, out on Kamizdat.
