The Domžale Culture House traces its history back over one hundred years, to the former Community Centre dating from 1910 that hosted a large number of stage plays. Domžale Music School was established on the premises of the Community Centre in 1950 and assumed ownership of the building two and a half decades later. Over time, the centre fell into decay, and the music school moved out of the dilapidated building. The opening ceremony of the renovated venue, renamed Franc Bernik Culture House, took place on 6 February 1998. The building houses Music School Domžale and the Public Institution Franc Bernik Culture House Domžale. The Culture House bears the name of Domžale-based priest, writer, composer and the local chronicler, Franc Bernik (1870–1948). Location: Domžale

The beginnings of Gromka go back to 1995 and a theatre space called Teater Gromki, whose collective consisted of artists working in different types of performing arts. Gradually joined by various individuals, the theatre was eventually repurposed as a club. Gromka’s current informal collective comprises an eclectic bunch of writers, musicians and film enthusiasts. Not only a concert venue, Gromka resembles a jigsaw puzzle, morphing from a lecture hall into a cinema, doubling as a living room and then transforming into a theatre. Gromka supports diverse urban (sub)cultural and disregarded-music practices, encourages political activism and informal education based on the non-profit ‘DIY’ principle. Location: Ljubljana
