MareziJazz

Festival

Launched and held from 2004 onwards in the coastal village of Marezige, MareziJazz is regarded as one of the bigger big band festivals in Central Europe and the only one of its kind in Slovenia. The two-day festival, held in the first week of July, hosts about a dozen international big bands, some of which originate from Italy, France, the Czech Republic, Russia and Latvia.

Max Club Jazz Festival

One of Slovenia’s most prominent and renowned jazz festivals, Max Club Jazz Festival is an event of both national and regional importance. Over the course of its rich history, the festival has focused on programming a superb jazz music selection, featuring Slovenia’s leading jazz artists presenting their own music projects and various collaborations. Since its establishment, Velenje’s Max Club Jazz Festival has provided the venue for original live performances by Slovenia’s top jazz musicians in cooperation with acclaimed international artists and performers.

Melodije morja in sonca

The festival Melodies of the Sea and Sun (Melodije morja in sonca) was launched in 1978 in the coastal town of Piran and was subsequently held in Portorož. The festival is set up as a competition of newly composed pop songs. It thus offers original hit songs, some of which have become evergreens. Most songs are based on themes of summer.

MENT Ljubljana Festival

The annual international music showcase MENT has been taking place since 2015 in Ljubljana. Seventy artists perform in different venues over the course of three days. Featuring club concerts by Slovenian and international artists working in different genres, the festival is complemented by a conference organised at the Kino Šiška Centre for Urban Culture (round tables, discussions, workshops, presentations focusing on music industry and creativity) and attended mostly by foreign festival delegates.

MetalDays Festival

Launched in 2004, the MetalDays Festival has become a synonym for real metal music holidays. Every July, the town of Tolmin turns into a paradise for metal music fans from all over the world. Daily attracting 12,000 visitors, the MetalDays presents a programme that includes over 100 artists performing on three festival stages.

Mladifest Festival

Organised since 1995 by the Sežana Student Club, the summer youth festival Mladifest has been enriching the town of Sežana’s public life with its social and cultural programme.

Mrož Fest

An international festival of noise music organised by the Collective for the Development of Youth Culture, Mrož Fest is held each autumn in the Menza pri koritu Club. Inheriting its orientation and conceptual framework from the earlier Noise Festival, the event has since 2015 borne the name of Primož Cerkvenik – Mrož, the deceased driving force behind the organising team.

Nights in Old Ljubljana Town Festival

The Nights in Old Ljubljana Town is an international festival run by Imago Sloveniae, a public interest institute, and traditionally presented during the last week of August. The concerts are held at more than ten, mostly open-air venues in the old city centre. The festival, whose thematic concept is based on serious and underrepresented music genres, including jazz, ethnic music, chanson and classical music, offers an overview of contemporary musical output and performance practices in these genres.

O•zvočenje Festival

An annual festival of original music presented at Ljubljana’s Bežigrad Gallery since 1977, the three-day O•zvočenje Festival (Sound Reinforcement Festival) features composers of electronic, electroacoustic, acoustic and experimental music.

Okarina Festival Bled

Held since 1991 in a variety of venues across the town of Bled, the international Okarina Festival is one of the oldest world music festivals in Europe. The 14-day event that takes place in late July and early August carries a powerful message about the importance of multiculturality and co-existence.
