The Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana is the only musical arts institute of higher education in Slovenia and an establishment of special national significance. It is the alma mater of many outstanding musicians, among them two honorary doctors of the University of Ljubljana, Irena Grafenauer and Igor Ozim. In 1975, the Academy of Music became a member of the University of Ljubljana. The number of students has been constantly increasing and currently stands at around 500.

Artium is an institution, which focuses on creating a platform for musicians, pedagogues, special needs teachers and music therapists to share their specialized knowledge. Artium’s mission comprises the following activities: summer camps for young musicians, concerts, festivals, educational seminars, publishing, representing musicians and organization of events.

The Creative Jazz Clinic in Velenje hosts and at the same time presents outstanding jazz musicians and pedagogues. The Clinic’s director Jure Pukl brought together acclaimed instrumentalists and incredible music creators who play an important role in shaping the world’s current jazz scene. With the addition of Velenje’s music school and the opportunity of high-quality jazz education, music education has acquired new dimensions and raised its quality standards.

ESTA - European String Teachers' Association je nevladna organizacija, ki združuje preko 5.000 godalnih pedagogov iz 29 držav Evrope in ostalih kontinentov. Slovensko društvo je bilo ustanovljeno 1998.

Initially, Glasbena matica focused on publishing music scores and specialist publications, gradually developing into a central music education establishment. It attended to the publication of countless works by Slovenian composers and fostered the collecting of folk music, built up an archive of musical works and staged concerts. Adapting to the tide of political change, Glasbena matica has reformulated its activity, adjusting after 130 years to a new climate, but still remaining faithful to its main fields of endeavour: concert organisation, music education and music publishing. However, in view of the rising numbers of new vocal ensembles, more attention has been devoted to vocal music performance.

The society was founded in 2001. The main goals of the society are to promote the development of Slovenian guitar pedagogy and creativity and their establishment in the world, to improve the professional education of guitar teachers, and thus the quality of teaching, to critically acquaint the public with this field of artistic creativity and raise musical awareness.

AIPA, k.o. is an organization whose primary purpose and activity is the collective enforcement and securing of the rights of the authors, performers, and producers of audio-visual works.

The Institute for Protection of Phonogram Performers and Producers Rights – IPF was established as a non-profit organisation for collective assertion and protection of rights of phonogram performers and producers pursuant to the Copyright and Related Rights Act – ZASP-UPB3. IPF is the only Slovenian organisation to collectively protect related rights of Slovenia’s phonogram performers and producers at home and abroad and, on the basis of international agreements, also bring into force and protect the rights of foreign performers and producers of phonograms in Slovenia.

In 1964, the Musical Youth of Ljubljana was the first society of its kind in Slovenia. In two years, they have prepared 456 concerts and opera performances for young listeners in Ljubljana and other places. The basic concern of the association has been the musical education of young people throughout the years and has remained one of the driving forces of development. Many of the young musicians who had their first public appearances at her concerts have become prominent artistic names.

Jeunesses Musicales Slovenia is trying to bring quality music closer to children and students at its matinee concerts with symphonic orchestras, concerts at schools, music workshops and through music magazine Glasna. The programs complement Slovenian music education curriculum in primary and secondary schools. At the same time, it plays a valuable role in the development of professional musicians, enables young people to make their first appearances on concert stages and participate in international orchestras, choirs and music camps. Since its foundation in 1969 JMS publishes its own music magazine (Glasna).
