Slovenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ljubljana Ochestra

The ensemble of the Slovenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ljubljana (SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana) performs an extensive repertoire of classical and modern operas, ballets and concert works. Each season it gives approximately 150 performances, both at home and abroad. Its opera and ballet ensembles and orchestra have enjoyed successful collaborations with Slovenian and international artists and producers.

Slovenian Organ Society

Slovenian Organ Society was founded on 17th February, 2001 and has the following tasks and objectives: - establishingt of the organ as an artistic musical instrument in Slovenia, - progressing the expertise in the field of organ education (organisation of lectures, courses, summer schools, etc.), - providing professional opinion and suggestions in the field of organ education, - advising on the care of the organ (building, maintenance, restoration), - co-operation with Church and State regarding issues of organ expertise, - organising and co-ordinating activities such as concerts, music festivals, competitions, etc., - co-operation with media, publishing (the publishing of proceedings, translating, writing and publishing of professional literature), - encouraging the writing and performance of new organ literature, - social meetings and the exchange of experiences.

Slovenian Percussion Project - SToP

Artist

Academically educated musicians gathered to play quality chamber music and exploit new percussion sounds. They upgrade their musical and social mission by staging educational concerts for the young, by organising seminars and the BumFest festival and by actively encouraging Slovenian composers to write percussion music. The unique ensemble consists of established percussionists from different parts of Slovenia: Barbara Kresnik, Marina Golja, Matevž Bajde, Damir Korošec, Franci Krevh, Tomaž Lojen, Davor Plamberger and Dejan Tamše. They have played on numerous stages in Slovenia and abroad. Recently StoP has become involved in other musical and non-musical art genres: singing, dancing, video etc. Thus it has discovered synergy in other art fields and (consciously) shifted from performing strictly classical percussion programme. The ensemble won the Župančič Award in 2013 and the Prešeren Fund Award in 2014.

Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra

The history of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and its predecessors Academia Philharmonicorum (1701), the Philharmonic Society (1794), and the first Slovenian Philharmonic (1908-1913) make it one of the oldest in the world. The Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra has reaffirmed its reputation on numerous tours to European cultural centres and in the United States of America and Japan, as well as presenting itself at many renowned international festivals. For many years, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra has been giving 32 subscription concerts per season in the Gallus Hall of the Cankar Cultural and Congress Centre (the central national cultural institution), as well as presenting concerts on special occasions and musical matinees for young listeners. The concert activity of the orchestra is documented on more than 80 compact discs.

Slovenian Polka and Waltz Festival

The Slovenian Polka and Waltz is a music festival organised by the RTV Slovenia Entertainment Production and is held to be one of Slovenia’s most prestigious folk-pop music festivals. Launched in 1995, the event has since run annually, discontinuing only in 2013 and 2018.

Slovenian Voice Teachers Association

The Slovenian Voice Teachers Association was established in 2001 with the aim of promoting and fostering all facets of vocal music, from teaching voice to vocal performances and concerts. The Slovenian Voice Teachers Association caters to the needs of its members: explorers of the dimensions of the human voice, professional voice teachers, music teachers, choirmasters, music educators, presenters, and speech and language therapists, as well as those seeking to gain an insight into the human voice and vocal music.

Slovenske Konjice Cultural Event Centre

The Cultural Event Centre is located on the premises of the Slovenske Konjice House of Culture (which includes a general library and a reading room). It features a hall that hosts theatre plays and film screenings, concerts, choral showcases and diverse lectures. The hall has a seating capacity of 308, of which 71 in the balcony. Slowind Festival

Festival

The Slowind Chamber Music Festival is organised by the Slowind ensemble, a wind quintet composed of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra soloists. Launched in 1999, the Slowind Festival is held each autumn in Ljubljana. The festival programme is regularly recorded and broadcast by Radio Slovenia and its concert recordings are played on international radio stations, including BBC 3, Dutch Radio and others.
