Slovenia’s SONICA Festival completes lineup for 2024

The festival of contemporary electronic music and transitory art SONICA, which will take place in Ljubljana between 18 and 20 April, has finalised its 2024 lineup.

This year, SONICA returns with an electrifying programme which represents a continuation of last year’s theme ‘Translocal Underground’, focusing on hyperspecific sounds and sonic cultures from different corners of the world. With the theme of ‘Glocalisation’, the festival sheds light on the tensions between the unrelenting, merciless forces of globalisation and local identities, beliefs, and traditions.

Apart from the already announced Slovenian debut of Nicolás Jaar with his new project JAAR, the performance of acclaimed Vietnamese collective Rắn Cạp Đuôi and the premiere of the new album of Slovenian multiinstrumentalist Iztok Koren, the Ljubljana festival presents 13 more acts for its 16th edition.

New additions include KMRU, Deena Abdelwahed, re:ni, Laksa, NZE NZE, Martyna Basta, Nicola Ratti, SAUD, Fujita Pinnacle and Marc Vilanova.

The closing night also features the premiere of the SONICA Residency 2024, an exclusive presentation of a new collaborative project by American composer Bridget Ferrill, Slovenian harpist rouge-ah and Slovenian VJ Pixel Bambi.
