EMC Fellowship Programme 2026–2028: Apply Now

Applications are now open for the EMC Fellowship Programme 2026–2028, a two-year professional development programme designed for emerging professionals working in the music sector. The programme offers participants the opportunity to internationalise their careers, expand professional networks, and actively engage in European cultural policy discussions.

The Fellowship is open to professionals such as music creators, performers, project managers, producers, educators, administrators, researchers, and others involved in music-related activities. Applicants may come from EMC member organisations or work independently, and apply in their own name. The programme is co-funded by the EU’s Creative Europe programme.

Who can apply

The EMC is looking for open-minded individuals who are motivated to engage in cultural policy, committed to musical diversity, and aligned with the IMC Five Music Rights. Applicants should have at least two years of professional experience (after studies or alongside postgraduate studies). Diversity in all its forms is strongly encouraged.

Programme Benefits

Attendance at the European Forum on Music (EFM) 2026

The Fellowship begins with fully funded participation (travel, accommodation and registration) at the European Forum on Music, taking place in Timișoara, Romania, from 9–12 June 2026. The EFM brings together music professionals from across Europe and beyond to exchange knowledge and build international connections.

Access to EMC Membership Benefits

Fellows receive access to most EMC members-only benefits for the duration of the programme, including internal communications and exclusive access to selected EMC events, workshops and online meetings.

Networking and Professional Development

Participants are encouraged to actively engage in EMC events and contribute to the organisation’s work where relevant, expanding their professional network across Europe.

One-to-One Mentoring Programme

Each Fellow can receive individual mentoring support from senior EMC members with relevant expertise. The EMC secretariat assists in matching Fellows with suitable mentors based on professional interests and geographic context.

Continuous Involvement

After completing the Fellowship, participants can remain connected to the EMC network through the Keep in Touch (KiT) programme and continue engaging with peers and former board members.

Online Onboarding Meeting

Fellows will take part in an online onboarding meeting on 16 April 2026 (12:30–14:00 CEST), offering an introduction to EMC’s work and a first opportunity to connect with fellow participants and the EMC team.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications must be submitted by 27 January 2026 via email to Sebastian Bürg at buerg@emc-imc.org, with the subject line “Fellowship Programme Application”.

Applications should include:

  • A CV

  • A short motivation statement explaining how the Fellowship will support your professional development

  • A reference letter from an EMC member or another music organisation familiar with EMC activities

Up to ten Fellows will be selected. Applicants will be informed of the results by the end of March 2026.

Note: Applicants in salaried positions are encouraged to seek official approval from their employer, as participation in the Fellowship should ideally be recognised as professional training rather than personal leave.
