Slovenian trio Širom named “Folk Album of the Month” by The Guardian

The acclaimed trio Širom has been awarded “Folk Album of the Month” by The Guardian for their new record In the Wind of Night, Hard-Fallen Incantations Whisper.

In her review, music journalist Jude Rogers praises the album as “a cacophonous folk kaleidoscope”, highlighting the group’s masterful use of more than two dozen global instruments — from the Persian gheychak to the Mongolian morin khuur — to create a powerful, textured soundscape.

Formed a decade ago, Širom continue to push the boundaries of folk music with their hypnotic blend of drone, post-rock and traditional sounds. This recognition by one of Europe’s leading media outlets marks a significant international achievement for Slovenian music.
